JOHN PEARSON DELOACH, SR
Savannah- Mr. John Pearson DeLoach Sr., 85 died on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at his home in Savannah while under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Savannah, Georgia, Mr. DeLoach was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Savannah where he was an active member for many years. He was a life-time member of the Savannah Volunteer Guard and served his country in WWII as an officer stationed in France, Germany and England. He was a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Jefferson Athletic Club, later known as the Victor B. Jenkins Boys Club. He was inducted into the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985 for his work and contributions to young athletes in the Savannah area. He founded and formed the Savannah Basketball Officials and Savannah Umpires Association’s of Savannah. He retired from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the Retired Peace Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife of 65years, Margueritte Coleman DeLoach, a brother, George N. DeLoache of Aiken, South Carolina, a son, John Pearson DeLoach, Jr., and daughter in law, Pamela Showalter DeLoach, a daughter, Jo Ann DeLoach Wotring and son n law, Richard A. Wotring, grandchildren, John Charles DeLoach, Theresa Y. Wotring, Shannon Linton and Jayme E. Hullum, great grandchildren, Sydni J. Wotring, Tatum E. Neff, John Brandon DeLoach, Robert Tristan Deloach, Mackenzie L. Linton, Robert Eric Hullum, Shelby Rose Hullum and Addesan Parker Hullum and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2006 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 12 noon at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
